GLOBAL IMPACT
Guatemala, Central America
We advance stronger, healthier communities in Guatemala

In 2024, Advance Community began partnering with the Materna Foundation and AVIS (Living to Serve Organization) to expand health, nutrition, and education across Guatemala.
With Materna, we empower women in rural communities to overcome breastfeeding challenges and give their babies a healthy start. With AVIS, we reach children, elders, widows, and families who are deeply affected by poverty and past conflict. Our nutrition and medical programs carry hope, health, and dignity to those in the most remote regions of northern Guatemala.
Community Development

AVIS Nutrition for Babies with Cleft Conditions
We provide monthly formula, specialized bottles, medical checkups, home visits, and training for mothers to help babies born with cleft lips and palates get the nutrition they need to grow and thrive.

AVIS Critical Care for the Elderly
In a country where seniors and widows are often abandoned, we deliver food, medical care, and emotional support to those living in extreme poverty and isolation, many of whom are survivors of Guatemala’s internal armed conflict.

Materna Kit Deliveries
Each mother who attends a Materna Kit Community Delivery receives essential items including a manual breast pump, nipple shields, and an infant hygiene kit, along with life-changing education in infant nutrition and maternal health. These kits empower women to build healthy habits and give their babies a strong foundation for life.

Emergency Fund Support
When medical crises arise, our Emergency Fund further supports women and children by providing urgent aid for treatments, medications, and transportation to hospitals. It’s more than financial help: it’s a lifeline for mothers and a promise that every child deserves a chance to thrive.
Surgical Missions
Working with AVIS at their new surgical clinic, our volunteer medical teams transform lives by delivering critical care to thousands of families in need. We provide specialized surgical services, including ophthalmology and gynecology, to families in remote villages who have little or no access to care.
These are more than procedures; they are life-changing interventions that heal the body and open new futures. From helping a child take their first steps to giving the gift of sight to relieving chronic pain, our teams bring healing and renewed possibility to impoverished communities.
