“If you keep good food in your fridge, you will eat good food.”

National Nutrition Month serves as a reminder to prioritize our health and well-being by making informed food choices and adopting a healthy lifestyle. This year’s theme, “Beyond the Table” encourages people to think about all the food they eat, where it comes from, how it is prepared, and the places they consume it.  One way to start is to think about the food you eat in your own home.

Many people associate spring as the time to refresh, rejuvenate, and clean out the things in our home that nag at us because of their state of disorder.

This spring, in honor of National Nutrition Month, Advance is encouraging us to spring clean the fridge.

When we deliberately clean out the fridge, it can be easier to take stock of what we have gotten into the habit of buying.

Fastfood leftovers. Chorizo and bacon. Full-fat cheese and yogurt. Sugary cupcakes with extra icing. Deep-fried chimichangas. Cheeseburgers and french fries.

Although delicious and usually easy to reheat or snack on at the moment, these types of foods can be part of unhealthy habits that create obstacles to optimal health.

Nutrition plays a crucial role in our health and vitality.

A well-balanced diet provides our bodies with the essential nutrients needed for optimal functioning. It can help prevent chronic diseases, boost our immune system, improve our mood, and enhance our energy levels.

Vegetables

By paying attention to what we eat and making nutritious choices, we can fuel our bodies for success and longevity.

One helpful tip is to try and limit sugar, salt, and white flour. For additional ideas, please see last year’s Nutrition Month blog by Advance or the website for National Nutrition Month, which offers lots of great tip sheets.

By eating a balanced diet, staying physically active, managing stress, and finding balance, we can all work towards a healthier, happier future.

So this March, let’s celebrate National Nutrition Month by embracing healthy eating habits and taking steps towards a healthier, more vibrant life.

To start, we can all begin by cleaning our fridge and making conscious efforts to buy more items that can make us feel better in the long run.
